Family Portrait

F.A.Q.

How long is a typical family portrait session?

We allow up to 2 hours. If needed, we will go for longer, but the two hour mark is usually the point where we are all happy with the photos.

Where should we do our family portrait session?

We do up to four people in studio (must be 10 or older or babies who are not yet on the move as our studio is small), or in a place that is special to you, like your home or a park you love. We tend to do many family photo sessions in High Park, James Gardens or by Lake Ontario in Etobicoke. We especially love photographing family portraits in places that are special to your family.

What time should we do our session?

The most beautiful light occurs 1 hour before the sunsets, so I recommend we start our session two hours before the sun sets.

What if my child is in a really bad mood and has a tantrum the whole time we are attempting to do the photos?

This is an extremely rare occurrence, but when it does happen, we offer a complimentary reshoot.

What if one of us gets sick the day of the session?

Please let us know as soon as possible so we can reschedule.

How much are your sessions?

Our family portrait sessions are $350+HST and include a $200 print credit. Please see our attached price list.

What products do you offer?

We offer prints, canvases and albums. Please see our attached price list and of course, when you come in to see your photos, we will show you what our products look like.

How do I book?

We require the contract and a retainer of $150 to reserve your date for family portrait sessions. Please call 416-763-3546 or email [email protected]

Not sure how much a family photo session costs?

We are happy to let you find out by looking at our family session photography pricing sheet.

What should we wear to our family portrait session?

Ideally, plain clothes so we can focus on your faces and not on distracting clothes. If possible, avoid stripes, plaid, patterns and logos. If you want to look really sharp, try dressing the family in no more than three colours. Your photos will also better stand the test of time if you dress simply.

Can my parents be in the photos too?

Absolutely! We love capturing multigenerational photos.

What about my dog?

Yes. We understand your dog is an important family member. You can definitely bring your dog to your family portrait session.

What should we bring?

Bring snacks your children love as well as comfort objects if they need them. Baby wipes are also a good thing to have on hand in case your child gets messy after eating those snacks (or playing in the sand).

What if I get a zit the day of the session?

No problem at all. We remove blemishes from photos you choose to print.

Can we incorporate hobbies into the session?

Definitely! We love when people want to incorporate what they love doing into the photos whether it being dancing, gymnastics, hockey or simply swinging or going down a slide.

How and when will I see the photos?

We love showing you the photos on the big screen 4-6 weeks after your session. If you provide us with a picture of the wall you are thinking of putting them on, we can even show you what they will look like on that wall!
