Wedding Photography

F.A.Q.

Will we receive digital images?

Yes! You will receive the digital images, edited and ready for printing in jpeg format. You will also receive an online gallery and shopping cart that you can share with your guests should they wish to see all the photos and order prints from your wedding.

Do we get the RAW files?

This is basically like asking for the ingredients at a restaurant so you can make your own meal or the first draft of an author’s novel so you can write the rest of it yourself. Our job as photographers is to edit your files and make sure you get the best ones. Giving you the RAW files would create a lot of extra work for you. Besides, you are hiring us to provide a finished product, not the rough draft. A large part of being a photographer is editing out photos where people have their eyes closed and editing the rest of the images in our style. At Rabbat Photography, we err on the side of providing too many images rather than not enough, so we only take out the ones that we are sure you would not like (and we pick the best of a grouping if there are 9 or so nearly identical images).

Can you show us a full wedding that you have photographed?

Absolutely! We have a selection of weddings we can show you and we can pick the one that will be most similar to your wedding.

How do we know if we need two photographers?

Check out our blog entry on that topic: How many photographers should I have at my wedding?

How will you be dressed?

We wear nice clothes (a suit, a dress or dress pants, never jeans or sweatpants) and comfortable shoes that we can easily move around in.

How would you describe your photography style?

Our style is a mix of candid photojournalism and traditional portraiture. Throughout the day, we allow everything to unfold naturally and stay in the background, with the exception of the portrait session, which is when we will take the photos with your families, wedding parties and of course, you two. Ideally, we like to have between 1-2 hours to photograph you, your families and the bridal party (depending on your preferences and the size of your families and bridal party). We would never interrupt the ceremony or any other moment to have you pose for a photograph. We can do table shots if they are very important, but we prefer to capture the guests having candid moments as they are on the dance floor, talking and laughing or simply watching you with a smile.

Have you photographed a wedding at my venue?

We have photographed weddings all over Toronto (and even outside of the GTA). We have been photographing weddings for so long, that there is a good chance we have photographed one at your venue. We are experienced photographers and can handle all lighting situations and venues. We would no longer be in business if we could not.

What’s your editing style?

We do not go with the current trends of the day, because what’s in style now will look outdated in a few years. We keep our photos as close as possible to what we see in camera, with improvements. Some of the photos on our site are over 10 years old, but you cannot tell because they stand the test of time. We want your great-grandchildren (if you are planning to have children-if not, that’s cool too), to be able to look at your photos without thinking they look outdated.

Where do you sit during dinner?

We need to be in the same room as you so that we do not miss any important moments.

If you have an emergency on my wedding day, do you have a replacement photographer?

We have never had the booked photographer not make it to the wedding (since 2001!), but we do have a network of fabulous photographers whom we are sure you will be thrilled to have if an emergency does arise.

Can we meet you?

Absolutely! Our studio is located in Etobicoke around Bloor and Islington. If you would prefer to meet via Skype, have a phone call or book via your computer, you can do that too. We look forward to working with you!

Do you charge a travel fee?

We charge a small fee for weddings more than 45KM outside of the GTA and Ottawa.

What packages do you offer?

Please have a at our wedding photography pricing sheet. We are not hiding anything here!

Around how many digital images will we receive?

We don’t like to give a number, because we don’t want to shoot for quantity, but it will be between 50-100 per hour. If you have two photographers, it can be double that.

Do you offer a discount for Friday and Sunday weddings?

  • Yes, we do offer a discount for Friday and Sunday weddings. We give 10% off. Do you offer a discount for winter weddings?
  • Yes, we do offer a discount for weddings between November and April. Like Friday and Sunday weddings, we offer 10% off for winter weddings. ch of them too.

Do you do engagement sessions?

Yes! We absolutely love engagement sessions as we feel they are a great way for each couple to know what it is like in front of the camera. They are also a fantastic opportunity for us to get to know each other. I love doing engagement sessions that incorporate your interests, from yoga on the beach, to skating, to reading.

If we meet with you, will you be photographing my wedding?

Yes, we believe it is important to meet with your photographer before your wedding date. After all, your photographer will be with you for the whole day, so it is important to make sure you are a good match!

Will you have any assistants with you on that day?

Yes, we always work with either an assistant or two photographers (the second photographer also functions as an assistant). This ensures everything runs in the smoothest way possible. In case of two photographer weddings, our second photographer is qualified to photograph weddings on their own, so there is always an on-site back-up.

How many years have you been in business?

Rabbat Photography started in 2001! We have been around since the film days and we were among the first to start photographing weddings digitally.

Can we give you a shot list?

You can give us a list of the people you would like to have photographed for family portraits, but we always do many combinations of both sides of the family with parents, grandparents and siblings as well as nieces and nephews. We practically have it down to a science, so that we are efficient and remember everyone! Please do not give us a list of everything you would like photographed throughout the day or we will not be able to take candid photos, because we will be too busy concentrating on your list. We do our best to capture all the details of the day, but we do not want to sacrifice the important moments, which cannot be written down on a shot list because unexpected moments often happen. I know bridal magazines often suggest them, but if you are hoping for a more candid style of photography, you will not get that from a shot list. The same phenomenon occurs when somebody requests similar images to those they have seen on Pinterest. One or two is fine if you really, really love them, but if you want the emotions of your day to be captured, please put your trust in us.

Do you have back-up equipment?

Absolutely! This is a must for any wedding photographer. We even back up your photos throughout the day to a computer, as we are extra concerned.

Do you offer any discounts?

Currently , there is a 10% discount for weddings booked on a Friday or Sunday as well as weddings booked between November and April. We are also currently offering a 15% discount on same-sex weddings of couples that allow us to show their photos in our portfolio.

What type of camera gear do you use?

This changes as cameras evolve, but we use professional gear. Please have a look at our website to see if you like our photos. Our gear shouldn’t matter, but the quality of our photos should. Whenever people say ‘Your camera takes nice pictures,’ it is like them saying ‘your guitar plays nice music,’ to a musician. It is important to have a good instrument, but being skilled in your craft is even more important.
