Happy birthday Maya! Toronto Newborn Photographer
Sunday, March 16, 2014Happy birthday, Maya! We wish you a happy day filled with love, cuddles and kisses.
I took these photos about a year ago at Maya’s house in Burlington. Maya’s mom and I have been friends since we were two years old. Now we have our own little ones.
Maya has been adorable since day one and she keeps on getting cuter.
Just for good measure, here are a couple of Maya’s sweet big brother, Evan. These were taken a couple of weeks after the above photos.
I hope Maya is having a great first birthday!
Amanda’s First Communion | Etobicoke Portrait Photographers | Throwback Thursday
Thursday, March 13, 2014Here are a couple of photos from Amanda’s first communion. I think these were taken about two years ago.
Happy Valentine’s Day! Pictures in the studio.
Friday, February 14, 2014Happy Valentine’s Day from my daughters, Julia and Emily!
We are also celebrating Julia’s 6th birthday today. She is very excited because she has her first loose tooth, she is l’amie du jour at school, it’s Valentine’s Day and it’s her birthday.
Etobicoke Headshot Photographer
Monday, January 20, 2014In the past few years, I have met quite a few of my neighbours through my photography business. Tracey Rodriguez lives just a street a way from me and she called me up for some author headshot photos.
Here are a couple of my favourites. I will let you all know when her book comes out! We took these photos in my studio. Just a few days before the session, I told Tracey about a video I had recently watched, Peter Hurley’s “It’s all about the squinch.” Tracey took it one step further and also watched his video, “It’s all about the jaw.” From now on, I will be recommending both of these to all of my headshot clients, because the results are fantastic!
The Glas Family
Friday, January 17, 2014Happy New Year!
One of my goals for the new year was to blog regularly. As you can see, that fell a bit on my priority list, but that is a good thing as my clients have been keeping me busy! Big thanks to everyone who has been referring me to their friends.
I figure I will start my post with the Glas family, as I photographed them for their 2012 Christmas cards, they came back to me for Shannon’s dad’s birthday and then again for their 2014 cards. You can see how much the boys have grown.
We did the first series of photos at their house. Photos below are from the front and inside of their Christmas card, but I put them together for you to see here.
They asked me for something completely different from the 2012 Christmas card session, so I suggested we go in front of the Christmas lights in Bloor West Village.
The brothers had fun donning their Santa hats and laughing in front of the reindeer.
Next week I am going to the photography conference in Mystic, Connecticut, so I am pretty excited about that! I will also be spending a few days in Boston, which I discovered last time I went to Mystic for the conference, which I am also very excited about.
I hope your new year is off to a fantastic start!
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
Tuesday, December 24, 2013Hope you have a fantastic Christmas!
Courtney and Daryl Wedding | Nottawasaga Inn Wedding | Etobicoke Wedding Photographers
Wednesday, October 30, 2013Courtney and Daryl got married at The Nottawasaga Inn . They were hoping for an outdoor ceremony, but it was about 10 degrees Celsius and pouring rain, so the ceremony moved indoors. Fortunately, they were still willing to go outdoors for photos.
Courtney’s Maid of Honour laces up her dress and she poses for a portrait with her mom.
Reflection of the groomsmen getting ready.
Courtney and Daryl wanted to see each other before the ceremony, so we set them up like this. Daryl had not yet seen Courtney on the wedding day.
This was their reaction to seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day.
Courtney told us that her and her Maid of Honour were known for their outrageous self-portraits, so we asked them to pretend they were doing them for us.
Courtney’s mom walked her down the aisle.
I love how Daryl’s looking at Courtney after her walk down the aisle. I think this is proof that seeing each other before the ceremony does not ruin the moment of seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony.
Everybody laughed throughout the ceremony (including the officiant).
It was still raining when we went outside for photos, but that was ok!
Note the raindrops on the photo in the photo on the right.
The sky turned orange as we were about to wrap up. They had a birch tree theme, and we actually found a birch tree in the wedding garden!
My associate, Sarah was photographing this wedding with me and she noticed this street lamp and took these awesome photos.
Wedding cake and candles. Don’t you love the birch candles?
First dance.
Mother son dance.
They played a joke on Daryl for the garter toss. The poor guy was blindfolded and they put his best man beside Courtney before he retrieved the garter.
This was his reaction.
There was some serious effort for the bouquet toss.
Congrats again on your marriage, Courtney and Daryl and thanks again for being so awesome about getting your portraits taken in the rain!
Courtney and Daryl Engagement Photos | Toronto Wedding Photographer
Friday, October 25, 2013Courtney grew up in the city, but ever since meeting Daryl, she became a real country girl. We did their engagement photos in and around the town of Gilford, ON, which is where they live.
The sun came out for very brief periods of time throughout our session. We did the first photo at the docks, but then we headed to the incredible venue of Belcroft Tree Farm for the other photos. They actually have a retro train caboose on their property – and you can even sleep inside it!
The people at my table for their wedding said that this photo is who Courtney and Daryl are.
Courtney used to play the piano.
Blast from the past.
I went back in time for these photos!
The farm has a pond!
Congrats again, Courtney and Daryl! The blog post from their wedding on Saturday will be going up next week. I can’t wait to post it! They were real troopers and we got some amazing photos in the rain!
Montreal for Zack and Alice’s Wedding | Hillsdale Golf Course Wedding | Toronto Wedding Photographer in Montreal
Friday, October 25, 2013I met my friend Zack on the train to Montreal when he was a budding young jazz musician and I was a jazz fan. Zack now lives in NYC, which is where my husband and I lived when he first started dating Alice in 2007. Unfortunately, my first encounter with Alice was not until their wedding, since she lived in Holland when were in NYC! The words that most people used to describe her were “Talented, creative and kind.” She met Zack when she sang at jazz Festival in Holland, where she is from, but she is now doing her PhD in Economics in NYC.
I was a guest at this wedding, but I was also the official photographer for the reception. Their wedding took place at Hillsdale Golf Course.
Congrats to Zack and Alice on such a fantastic day!
I adore the hora dance.
You can tell they are in love from the way they are looking at each other.
Here, they are watching a video made by friends from around the world who could not attend the wedding.
Zack’s dad saved this whisky for this day from another special occasion 37 years ago. It was handed out to all of the guests.
Alice designed the beautiful cake and cupcakes. They matched the wedding invitations!
Zack completed the cake cutting with a wink and a smile.
First dance.
Alice’s brother Danny sang an emotional song for them.
Zack’s sister Katie DJ’d.
The bride and bridesmaids towards the end of the evening.
Alice’s family and Zack’s sisters.
Congrats on a fantastic wedding Zack and Alice! It was so nice to finally meet you, Alice!
I spent a couple of extra days in Montreal. This is their Olympic stadium.
The jardin botanique put on an incredible exhibit.
They tagged monarchs.
Thank goodness for honeybees. Here’s one at the botanical gardens. If you are worried about colony collapse and why the bees are dying, you can help out here:
