Claire and Dave | Oakville Engagement Session| Oakville Wedding Photographer
Thursday, October 8, 2009Dave and I met in grade 9, so I am thrilled that he is now engaged to Claire!
We will be photographing their wedding on July 17, 2010! I can’t wait.
In the meantime, here are some images from their engagement session in Oakville at Gairloch Gardens and the Erchless Estate.
Dave has always been into working out, so he was pretty happy to lift Claire up.
They climbed the tree for these photos.
We were really impressed with how well maintained Gairloch Gardens was.
Happy to be kissed.
Happy to be kissed and happy to be lifted #2.
Playing with wolves outside the Oakville Museum.
It was REALLY windy when we took these photos and we tried to avoid the wind for the most part so we could keep Claire’s hair in check, but the windy hair looks cool in this photo. I love the boat in the background too.
Congrats again, Claire and Dave!
Karen and Jeremy | Enoch Turner Schoolhouse | September 6, 2009| Toronto Wedding Photographer
Monday, September 14, 2009This message greeted Karen as she walked into the schoolhouse, before she walked down the aisle.
Jeremy proposed to Karen with this green plastic ring that he got from a Christmas cracker. The ring on her finger was designed and given to her later (she did say ‘yes’ when he proposed with the plastic one).
Aren’t Karen’s niece and nephew adorable? I think they’re also the first ring bearer and flower girl that young that I’ve seen successfully walk down the aisle!
Ceremony! This took place at the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse.
They smiled at each other like this throughout most of the ceremony.
Sarah (who was also photographing this wedding) told me that her favourite moment of every wedding is just after the ceremony when the wedding party congratulates the bride and groom. Here is one of her photos from that moment.
Group photo with EVERYONE who was in attendance at the wedding.
The wedding party in front of the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse.
Karen and Jeremy in front of the schoolhouse and in front of the famous tree just outside the schoolhouse. Apparently, the tree was featured in a calendar recently. The tree also symbolizes Karen and Jeremy’s commitment to the environment. For instance, they used Bullfrog Power for their ceremony and reception and Tree Canada to offset carbon emissions. They also featured local cheeses, flowers and favours.
Don’t you love grooms with bouquets?
Just in front of the King St. streetcar!
The cool building behind Karen and Jeremy apparently also belongs to the schoolhouse. The architecture was too good to pass up and isn’t that a romantic tree?
There was lots of laughter throughout the speeches.
Kiss!!
Cheers!
I love how the guests danced at this wedding. Everyone got right into it!
Thanks to Brian Tao, from Luxography for helping us out with the reception images.
Congratulations, Karen and Jeremy!!
Jay and Jenn | August 15, 2009 (Riverstone Retreat – Durham, ON)
Friday, August 21, 2009Jay and Jenn are nature lovers, so it was only fitting that they decided to get married at Riverstone Retreat, which features an Econest lodging built with sustainable materials from the property. It also features a river, campsite, forest and other lodgings.
Here is Jenn getting ready!
Jay has a laugh just before the ceremony begins.
The cellist practiced in an unconvential manner before the ceremony began. Jenn’s parents walked her down the aisle.
They smiled at each other throughout the ceremony and continued to do so after.
Jay’s family outside the main dwelling.
Taking a break from the heat with a rest in the shade.
The ceremony took place in this awesome forest, so we decided to do bridal party photos there as well.
We found this old CN train and thought it would make for some cool pictures.
Their reception took place outdoors.
Don’t you love that sky?
Cake cutting! The top layer was for the bridal party and the cupcakes were for all the guests. Yum!
Speeches.
A loving kiss.
Congratulations, Jay and Jenn! We hope you are having a fabulous honeymoon!
Phil and Yi | August 8, 2009 | Sunnyside Pavilion| Toronto Wedding Photographer
Tuesday, August 18, 2009Phil and Yi are friends of ours, so I was very excited when they asked if I could take pictures of them at Sunnyside Pavilion on their wedding day, after their private ceremony.
This is in the courtyard garden.
Phil’s wedding attire transforms him into a snazzy and elegant gentleman, while Yi looks ravishing in her elegant gown.
They could not stop smiling as they walked along the boardwalk!
Isn’t that the picture of happiness?
Taking a kissing break.
Enjoying a quiet moment together on the beach.
This was upstairs in the private open air area of the pavilion. I was super excited they were having their reception there, because you can only access it if you’re invited to a wedding there or having a private event.
Upstairs and outside the Pavilion.
This is the post-reception reception at Sneaky Dee’s. Phil is the one in the red shirt. Both Phil and Yi LOVE rock music, so it was only appropriate that their evening reception took place at a concert venue.
Esther and Alan | August 7, 2009 (The Old Mill) | Toronto Wedding Photographer
Wednesday, August 12, 2009I was extremely excited about photographing Esther and Alan’s wedding, because I knew that if it was half as much fun as our downtown engagement session, it would be a blast! They did not let me down!
Esther’s bridesmaids helping her get into her dress.
Alan’s reaction when he saw Esther for the first time on the wedding day (which was before the ceremony).
We went to Wychwood Barns for some photos, which was very close to where they live!
The girls. Don’t you love how they are all wearing slighlty different dresses that compliment each other?
The guys relaxing for a photo.
Isn’t this wedding gown spectacular?! I was VERY excited to finally get my radiopoppers working for the images below!
I just love how he is looking at her and how she is laughing.
The Old Mill in Etobicoke. This is very close to our home studio!
The ceremony. Look at how happy they are to be married! We were not allowed to use any flash at all during the ceremony and the chapel at The Old Mill is dark, but that was a fun challenge.
The families join together.
Esther is originally from Singapore, so they played some traditional Chinese wedding games. In this one, she was blindfolded and she had to guess which hand belonged to Alan. She got it right immediately!
A few men put on headscarves and other womanly clothing articles and Esther was led out of the room. When she came back, she had to find Alan. Again, she found out who he was almost immediately!
This cake was as delicious as it appears.
Party time!
Stacey and John | July 25, 2009 (St. Michael's Church + Le Dome, Oakville)
Saturday, August 1, 2009Stacey and John made the best of the weather on their wedding day.
I love how the limo driver is smiling while holding the umbrella as Stacey gets out of the car.
Stacey’s father hands her over, with a handshake and a look that says “I trust you to take good care of her now.”
They got married at St. Michael’s in Oakville. The ceremony.
It was POURING when we were supposed to take outdoor photos, so we did a lot of them in the church, but we got REALLY lucky, because the rain cleared up after the ceremony and we were able to go outside for some photos!!! I was super excited because the light was awesome!
This was on the Oakville waterfront. I love how the sky and the water are similar colours. The bridal party colours really came out in these photos as well.
Bridal party on the rocks.
Kissy, kissy if you can catch her!
Stacey requested a ‘smelling the bouquet photo’. I also love this photo of her in front of the rocks.
First dance as a married couple at Le Dome.
Father daughter dance.
Mother son dance.
Cake cutting and John having too much fun giving his speech!
The ringbearer and flower girl showed how it was done on the dance floor.
Congrats, Stacey and John! We hope you are having a fabulous honeymoon in Italy!
Jen and Dave's Wedding Fusion Video
Thursday, July 23, 2009We finally had a chance to show Jen and Dave their wedding fusion video, so we can now post it! “Wedding fusion,” basically means combining stills and video.
You may remember Jen and Dave from their April 18, 2009 Wedding.
This was our first attempt at fusion using the 5D Mark 2. You’ll get an idea of what the whole wedding was like through this short video.
Special thanks to Heidi Lange for giving us permission to use her song for the first half of the video. The second half of the video was raw sound from the event, featuring Ella Fitzgerald. Enjoy!
If you would like to watch this video in HD, please click on the Vimeo link as Vimeo will not allow us to post in HD on the blog.

Amanda and Brian | Glen Eagle Golf Club Wedding | Toronto Wedding Photographers
Thursday, July 23, 2009I’ve been looking forward to this wedding since Amanda contacted me in 2007, to see if we were available for July 19, 2008. We were already booked! That was ok though, since Brian hadn’t proposed yet.
As soon as he did, Amanda contacted us to see if we were booked for July 19, 2009. Thankfully, she was the first to inquire about that date!
You may remember Amanda and Brian from their engagement shoot in October.
Amanda got ready at her parent’s house and Brian got ready at his parent’s house…but he brought their dog.
Cool ring shot.
Amanda having difficulty getting the ring on. She finally succeeded after much laughter. When these two were told it was time to kiss, they KISSED!!! There was no way we could miss that photo :-).
Happy to be together.
Here’s the animated version.
Amanda and her maid of honour had the same tattoo in the same place. Her bridesman is in the photo on the right.
The wedding party. I think Amanda was having a little too much fun with Brian’s kilt!
I love the kilt backdrop.
Check out the shoes and the dagger. I bet it took the men longer to get ready than it took Amanda! Did I tell you Brian chose her awesome dress?
Brian and Amanda.
We all got to ride in these little golf carts to the photo area. Amanda and Brian got the retro cart.
Amanda’s dad gave quite the speech!
Brian’s dad gave a good one too, as you can see from their reactions.
Cake cutting and bouquet toss. Isn’t it cool that the cake matches her dress?
They did a choreographed Scottish style first dance!
Garter toss.
I’m not 100% sure, but I think the bagpipers were a surprise.
Congratulations, Brian and Amanda!
As everyone kept saying “It’s about time.” 😉
Baby Corrie
Wednesday, July 22, 2009I photographed Jon and Abi’s wedding 5 years ago July 17 (HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!), so I was thrilled when they asked me if I did baby portraits a few weeks ago. Jon and I went to high school together, so it’s extra nice being able to photograph the major milestones in his life.
Corrie wasn’t due until August, but this little cutie showed up 6 weeks early.
She looks pretty alert for someone who’s barely been out of the womb two weeks, doesn’t she?
Newborns love to curl up…probably because they are so squished in the womb, but I think they find it comfortable.
This face didn’t last for too long.
Don’t you love how big diapers look on newborn babies?
Stretching out. I bet she couldn’t do this inside mommy!
Thinking about something.
Baby burrito. I love how newborns can be calmed down by wrapping them inside blankies-not that she needed to be calmed down, but look how happy she is.
Kisses from daddy.
In daddy’s arms.
Eating mommy and being held by her loving parents.
Big yawn. She is a preemie and her mom informed me that preemies are asleep most of the time, but she was awake for most of our session.
Mommy’s friend made this beautiful and comfortable sling. I think Corrie will spend MANY more hours in it!
Congrats on a beautiful baby, Jon and Abi!
